Waverly Noble, MT-BC

Hi there! My name is Waverly Noble and I am a board-certified music therapist, as well as the owner of Classic City Music Therapy.

I am a graduate of the University of Georgia (go dawgs!) and completed my internship at Healing Hearts Music Therapy in Tallahassee, Florida.

My clinical training included work in a variety of populations, including early childhood, school systems, EBDs, psych, older adults/ memory care, and individual clients. I am a firm believer in neurodivergent affirming care and meeting my clients where they are.

When I am not practicing music therapy, you can find me directing Triple Threat, a children’s musical theatre company at the Studio, eating at one of my favorite Athens restaurants, or hanging out with my cats, Banjo and Coda

What is music therapy?

According to the American Music Therapy Association, music therapy is the “clinical & evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program”. Common goals in music therapy include:

  • cognitive goals
  • physical/ motor goals
  • social goals
  • emotional goals
  • communication goals

Music therapists have received a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music Therapy and have completed 1200 clinical hours, as well as passed their board-certification exam and obtained licensure. We work closely with families to assess the interests, strengths, and areas of need of our clients, planning their goals accordingly. Music is highly motivating and can often elicit different responses from clients than other therapies.

Music therapy with Classic City Music Therapy is FUN, client-led, and neurodiversity affirming.

Adapted lessons

In addition to music therapy services, Classic City Music Therapy offers voice lessons for neurotypical and neurodivergent clients alike.

At Classic City Music Therapy, both neurotypical and neurodivergent students are welcome. The student’s goals are planned collaboratively with Ms. Waverly to create a fun and motivating environment for growth.
